Chimpanzee habituation starts very early in the morning, you are advised to wake up very early to prepare yourself have breakfast, packed lunch and 2 bottles of drinking water, then our driver guide will drive you to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu visitors information center where you will meet fellow trekkers before you hit the jungle. Our driver guide will accompany you and park ranger to the starting point of your chimpanzee habituation experience on their day to day activity. At the headquarters, our driver guide will leave in the hands of your guide be briefed about the rules and regulations before you set off into the jungle to see the mighty cousins. Chimpanzee habituation is an exciting activity-you will be able to see and stay with the chimpanzee the whole day as they play and feed, take colorful pictures and videos with our closest cousins. The stylish & well-equipped rooms combine ethnically influenced décor with something of a country house feel, extremely spacious, and come complete with log fire, mini-bar, tea/coffee- making facilities, mini-safe, direct-radio contact with the main building and a fabulously earthy bedroom with tub & shower. Gorilla tracking in the Virunga is a unique wildlife encounter, and one of Africa’s indisputable travel highlights. It is difficult to describe the simple exhilaration attached to first settle eyes on wild mountain Gorillas. These are enormous animals the silverbacks weigh about three times as much as the average Man and their bulk are exaggerated by a shaggily luxuriant coat. Gorillas are remarkably peaceful creatures, certainly by comparison with most primates.

From the veranda of the Apoka, watch a constant parade of wildlife across the landscape, including elephants, cheetahs, bat-eared fox, giraffes, hartebeest, bushbuck, waterbuck, warthog, striped hyena, zebras, buffalos, antelopes, and over 300 species of birds. With your trained guide, track game along the sandy riverbed, and then dive off a huge boulder into Uganda's only rock pool.

Cheetahs prefer the open plain savannah, grassland and mountains landscape found in Pian Upe Game Reserve and Kidepo Valley National Park, they prey on relatively small animals like antelopes, relying on the sight to locate, stalk and begin pursuits. They select vigilant animals on the edge of them as victims. Although Cheetahs are the world’s fastest land mammal, they cannot maintain their top speed of 65 m/h for more than about 300 meters, so unless they can get closer to their prey undetected before starting their chase, they are rarely successful.

Uganda is gifted with more than 5,000 chimpanzees in the wild because of its diverse natural endowments and beauty. In Uganda, there are 4 national parks where you can trek habituated chimpanzees, Kibale National Park is home to the largest family of habituated chimpanzees, and more than 100 habituated chimps are residents, Kyambura Gorge is commonly known as the valley of Apes and Kalinzu Forest Reserve in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Budongo forest inside Murchison Falls National Park, Semuliki National Park and Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Lake Victoria.

A total of 49 orphaned Chimpanzees reside at Ngamba Island Sanctuary, there are two sessions of viewing Chimps at the island – the morning session starts in the morning till mid-day and the afternoon session usually starts at mid-day till late in the evening when chimps finish feeding.

Kidepo valley national park lies between Uganda’s borders with Kenya and Southern Sudan, about 520 km from Kampala. Kidepo is arguably one of Africa’s most breathtaking wildernesses. Lions in Kidepo are bigger and heavier than lions at Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park because they feast on large herds of buffalos that roam in the Park.
